Induction Heating Glass Preforms

At Mansol, we utilise induction heating to provide precise, localised heat for sealing operations, particularly beneficial in fibre optic applications. This method is highly effective for creating hermetic seals between metal components and glass preforms, such as bonding Kovar ferrules to optical fibres. Induction heating offers rapid, repeatable, and clean heating, ensuring consistent results without the need for direct contact or operator intervention.

Our facility is equipped with a range of induction coils, and we can fabricate custom coils tailored to specific applications. This flexibility allows us to accommodate various component geometries and sizes, ensuring optimal heating efficiency. It is important to note that induction heating relies on inducing currents in conductive materials. Therefore, it is most effective with ferrous-based metals and is not suitable for ceramic components.

By integrating induction heating into our sealing processes, Mansol enhances the quality and reliability of our preform assemblies, meeting the stringent requirements of modern fibre optic and electronic applications.
